Veteran Bull Rider Injured in Australia
PUEBLO, Colo. (May 26, 2009) – Veteran bull rider Brian “Pee Wee” Herman (Victoria, Texas) was knocked unconscious during the 2009 Professional Bull Riders Troy Dunn International, one of the stops on the 2009 PBR Australia schedule, at the Townsville Entertainment Centre on Saturday, May 23.
In attempting to ride the bull Hell Yeah, owned by stock contractor Fred Kleier, thirty-eight-year-old Herman clashed heads with the animal and sustained multiple facial fractures. On-site ambulance officers immediately attended to Herman before he was transported to The Townsville Hospital, where he spent the night. He underwent surgery on Sunday, May 24 to fix the fractures. He is currently recovering in a stable condition and was released from the hospital yesterday. He will be returning home to Texas on Tuesday, May 26.
