WPBA ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBERS FOR 2010
October 22, 2009: Thousand Oaks, CA
The WPBA voting membership has elected four new Board Members to start working with the organization in 2010. Dawn Hopkins, WPBA Board President, is optimistic about working with these individuals to build the future of the WPBA. “The WPBA is lucky to have four new board members whose background proves their passion for the sport. Their diverse experience will be a great asset to the organization.”
Mimi McAndrews is an attorney from Florida and runs the WPBA Regional Flamingo Billiards Tour. Her enthusiasm is evident, “It’s an honor to be chosen to help guide the WPBA. This organization faces many challenges but I believe that we can meet those challenges. I look forward to working with the players and the Board as I do my part to help ensure the continued success of the WPBA and the future of the sport of women’s billiards.” Ms. McAndrews graduated from Georgetown University Law School and has a broad background in several areas of law. For five years, she spearheaded the South Florida Chapter of the National Safety Council and initiated a successful reorganization and restructuring of this nonprofit organization, reflecting a more modern approach to doing business.
Paul Brienza is a former touring professional, served 14 years as a MPBA board member including eight years as President or Vice-President, and is a Billiard Industry advocate. He is honored that the WPBA Voting Membership has entrusted him with the upcoming future of the organization. “I would like to thank the WPBA players for their votes which placed me on the board of the WPBA. It feels good to be part of a professional players association again, especially one that has been in existence since 1976. That fact stands alone in the billiard industry and is a lesson to be learned by everyone. The WPBA truly has a history which I am now, very proud to be part of.”
Tamre Geene-Rogers is an experienced executive sales and marketing manager with PACLAB Network Laboratories, coordinating sales, marketing and services with area network hospitals and health care facilities, managing multi-million dollar accounts. She has run the WPBA’s Northwest Women’s Pool Association Regional Tour since 2003. “I am so excited to be involved in the WPBA! Being voted in by the membership and them placing their trust in me is a great honor. I am a critical thinker, well organized and am confident that my sales and service background along with my work ethics and dedication will bring value to this organization. I look forward to giving back to the sport that created many opportunities for me throughout my own pool playing career.”John D. Rousseau has 35+ years in the credit/financial industry and has been a friend of the WPBA for quite some time. He’s worked with such companies as American Express, West Asset Management, FM Services Agency as a debt management consultant and expert on collections management, accounts receivable, debt buying-selling, collection score management and more. He sums up what his contributions will be to the Board and the membership, “I am honored to have been elected to the WPBA Board of Directors and intend to provide strategic recommendations to permit the members, fans, tournament sites and sponsors to all enjoy an even more rewarding experience when interfacing with the WPBA product.”

All four will bring unique viewpoints, experience and strengths to the WPBA. Although their terms do not start until January 1st, 2010, they are all beginning to work alongside our current Board Members to familiarize themselves with current projects and issues as the WPBA faces the future.
Belinda Calhoun and Dawn Hopkins were reelected to the Board at the end of ’08 and remain through the 2011 season. The 7th Board Member will be appointed in January, 2010.
